If anyone looks at your calendar and your check book, they will get a real sense of what you value most.

This link has nothing to do with music, but everything to do with how we steward the resources that God gives to us. What we value most (give great worth too) will be reflected in how we spend.

This online envelope system has revolutionized the way I see money and manage it. It has been very helfpul. I tried several dozen online and found this to be the most user friendly and actually work like my mind thinks it should work. Plus, for the artists out there who care about such things, it wasthe most visually appealing. It deos everything I need it to do and costs a lot less than compettitors.

I was complaining to God the other day (Don't judge me- you do it too ) about how average I was and that i can not actually play bar chords like the other guitarists (Thank God for Capos) and he spoke to me in a way that was hard to miss. "I don't want you for your skill." The Holy hush filled my mind and I remembered the fact that He is constantly surrounded by throngs of angels crying 'Holy, Holy, Holy" and me with my three chord dities, I think I can impress him.

Easter Everyday

Like many of you, I spent much of the last few weeks and days preparing for the Resurrection day service that happened today. I have to admit there was much satisfaction in putting a service like today together and having it go really smoothly. There is a finality once we were dismissed and our worship service was complete. That is not bad or evil. I thank God for the weekly habit of meeting together.

I thank God for all the visitors and people I haven't seen since Christmas and the guy who shows up in a suit because that is what He did as a kid and now as an adult he sat through both services because there seemed to be something he missed as a child. I hope he comes back next week. I thank God for all of that. I thank God that we sang so loud that I think I heard the back row, and I thank God for the tears that flowed as the gospel was clearly spoken.

But it is not a church service or event that is most important on our spiritual journey. I am not saying that they are not important. Church at this point in my life is actually a help to me rather than a hinderance to my spiritual growth as it sometimes can be. I love the church. Like many people when I began to understand the grace of God in my life I was at church every single time church was open, hoping not to miss something God was doing in our midst. Now, after following God for more than a few years I am beginning to realize that it is my daily relationship with Jeus, not an event, that should makes up the bulk of my spirituality. Minute by minute submission to the spirit of God in the midst of everyday, ordinary, sometimes frustrating, sometime boring parts of life, is what makes our life a joy.

So tomorrow, I am going to continue to focus on the cross. To focus on the only event that will matter in eternity.

C.J. Mahaney says it well in a book called "The Cross Centered life" if you will allow me to quote a few lines. "I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I do Know this: Because of the cross I'll be doing much better than I deserve. That's why,for the rest of my life, I want only to move deeper into the wonderful mystery of God's love for me"

Understanding The Genres

One of the hardest things we do is categorize songs. I wanted to take a little bit of time and explain how we do it on freeworshipmusic.com so that you can find the songs that you will find useful. We do know that contemporary means different things to different people, but we hope this guide helps you find songs useful in your church setting.

We have only a few genres currently that our songs fit into.

Blended - These songs would do well in a "Blended" setting that is, a setting where
hymns and some choruses are sung. These song are a little lighter than "light
contemporary" but may also find a home occasionally in a light contemporary
setting.
Light Contemporary - These songs are on the light side of contemporary would not fit into the "blended" catagory.
Churches new to the 'contemporary music' services may
in fact find these useful.
Contemporary - These songs are most like the songs you may hear on the radio. Songs
like "Here I Am To Worship" these songs are recorded or written in this
style.
Modern Hymn - A modern hymn is hymnody with modern harmony. Modern hymn
typically are very wordy and deep theologically.

The are very general and you may find songs that fit into more than one category.
